How can I get over my shyness?

Well, my best friend (a guy) had the same problem and he created his "alter ego", but of course didn't tell anyone but me about it because its kind of weird, but in this alter ego he saw himself as a super cool, badass, ladies' man. Whenever he went out with a girl that he really liked he took on the persona of Chip (his alter ego) and that really helped him get over his shyness because Chip isn't shy and can have any lady he wants. Hope this helps. But be extremely careful that your alter ego doesn't have a mind of its own and ruin relationships for you.
